Warren H. Hagood II, also known as "Hamm", born in Williamston S.C., Warren's family moved to Washington DC where he spent his childhood. At an early age he had shown his interest in music. He took piano lessons, and banged way on his Mom's pots and pans. He, studied music at Kelly Miller Jr. High, and Spingarn High School, in Washington D.C. Later on in life, he studied at the Chicago Conservatory of Music and
Cal State University Long Beach.
Warren, launched his music career in Washington, D.C., at a very young age, performing at The Howard Theater and local clubs. He has performed more than a dozen times at the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York.
Warren, helped to form the X-Citers Band in Wash. D.C, with Sidney Pinchback, David Henderson, Melvin Moore, Armad MacIntosh and Joe Hudson. They all later moved to Chicago, IL. The X-Citers became one of Chicago's premier show and recording studio bands, backing up some of Chicago finest talent.
He has performed on shows and/or, recorded with such greats as,The Temptations, Etta James, Otis Clay, Tyrone Davis, Stevie Wonder, Buddy Guy, Lisa Minelli, Billy Stewart, War, The Whispers, The Dells, The Chi-lites, Minnie Ripperton, Jon B., The Stylistics, Arron Neville and The Neville Brothers, Billy Stewart, BB King, Lionel Richie, Isaac Hayes, Waymon Tisdale, Angie Stone, Ronnie & Eloise Laws, and Yolanda Adams, Howard Hewitt, Bobby Brown, Ollie "Ali" Woodson, Peggy Scott-Adams, Babara Morrison just to name a few.
In the late 70s, Warren along with Sid Pinchback, David Henderson, Eugene Rogers, David Scott, Sheryl Henry, Frank McCurry and Lance Arnel, formed the group "South Shore Commission". They had some success with recording such hits as "Free Man" which stayed #1, at WBLS in New York City for four weeks, and number 14 in Billboard. Later on that
same year, with"We're on The Right Track", which made it to the top 20 in Billboard
Warren, took a break from his music career for eight years to run a successful business and help raise his two step daughters
In the year 2001, Ralph Johnson of "Earth Wind and Fire"and Louis Satterfield, of "The Phoenix Horns", both long time friends, talked him into playing a set with their Jazz group. Well, once again, "It was on"....After buying a new set of drums and practicing very hard for about eight months, he was ready. Now Warren, is one of L.A.'s premier drummers.
Stage credits include, "North on South Central Ave." April of 2003 Which he received an NAACP Image Award for Local Theatre as a cast member for "Best Ensemble" in a Musical, and in "American Hot Wax" June of 2003 - 04
